HISTORY

The Canadian Classics have played in Bermuda’s prestigious World Rugby Classic since 1995 and have proven to be a formidable opponent for any classic team by notching 4 plate titles (98’, 00’, 02’, 06’), along with historic wins vs the Classic Wallabies, Springboks, Italians, French, and All Blacks along the way.

In 2006 we saw both a need, and an opportunity, to partner with our American brothers by adding an annual summer fixture to the calendar. Now known as the Classic Can Am Summer Series, both Canada and USA Classics use this single-match summer event as an opportunity to trial new players, test new systems, and renew old rivalries in preparation for Bermuda’s World Rugby Classic each fall.

2022 saw us follow in the footsteps of our former female internationals, who pioneered a Classic Women’s tour in 2007, by re-establishing our women’s program with a successful domestic tour to St. John’s, NL. This program is now permanent and will run annually each summer.

The Canadian Classics also strive to give back to the game and are mandated to assist and support the development of youth rugby wherever possible. Each year we participate in a youth development camp in Bermuda, leave kit and equipment to hosting Can Am communities as legacy gifts, and have made financial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation as well as in support of some of our biggest “little” fans who are struggling to overcome critical illness. Canadian Classics Rugby is proud of these initiatives and plans to continue them indefinitely as we are able.
